Global infrastructure consultancy, Opus International Consultants, has appointed Huw Edwards B.Sc.(Hons),C.Eng.,M.I.Struct.E to lead its UK operations.
Huw spent the first eighteen years of his engineering career with Veryards & Partners working in their Cardiff and London offices. After a brief time away, Huw took up the position of Regional Director South West with Opus, who had recently merged with his former employers, Veryards & Partners.
In his role, Huw has worked on a number of prestigious projects including the £26M ‘BREEAM Rated Excellent’ University of Newport landmark building, the ‘Design for Life Building for Wales Framework’ building world class health care facilities in Wales and a development at Llanilid creating developable land at a former open cast mine.
Huw takes up his new position as UK Director, following the promotion to Chief Executive of former UK Director, Dr David Prentice. Huw says he will be focussing on utilising our global capabilities to enhance the package of service we can offer to our clients. Our ability to work in different time zones means we are in a unique position to offer our clients 24 hours a day working on a range of projects in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
Huw Edwards took up his new position on the 1st of December and will be located at the Bristol office of Opus.
In the UK Opus employs 240 staff located in 12 offices throughout the UK. The company also has a further 65 offices in Australia, Canada and New Zealand, employing in total 2300 people. Its head office is located in Wellington, New Zealand.
