Reducing the risk of collisions

Our Road Safety Plan aimed to inform the development of safety policies to address road safety in the municipality and included safety reviews of key corridors.

The District of North Vancouver was interested in developing a Road Safety Plan to set priorities related to reducing the risk of collisions within the District. They needed a plan to develop safety policies and to address road safety within the municipality.

Opus identified high-priority engineering improvements that improved safety for all road users. Short, medium, and long-term improvement strategies were also created for the District to implement. As part of the Road Safety Plan, Opus completed detailed safety reviews of the Marine Drive and Capilano Road corridors.

Opus provided the District with a priority index of locations where safety-specific measures should be implemented, as well as associated costs and safety benefits. The Road Safety Plan was well-supported by Council, and was included as a chapter of the District's Master Transportation Plan.
