Pre-design, design and construction supervision for the diffuser project

The township of Langley needed the diffuser to extend and improve dilution from the Northwest Langley Wastewater Treatment Centre’s outfall into the Fraser River.

The diffuser, which is 30 metres long and varies in diameter from 865mm down to 610mm, is fabricated from coal tar enamel lined and coated steel pipe (12.5mm wall) with a 75mm shotcrete surround to provide additional ballast.

The diffuser has 30 – 75mm diameter ports along the top of the pipeline and a hinged end port assembly at the offshore end to allow access into the pipeline should this ever be necessary.

A rip-rap apron on either side of the diffuser provides additional protection from the possibility of an anchor catching on the pipeline.
