Preventing Collisions Before They Happen

Road Safety Audits prevent collisions by monitoring the design process for opportunities to improve road safety.

Opus is a leader in Road Safety Audits (RSAs) and was one of the authors of the Canadian Road Safety Audit Guide. RSAs are a formal safety examination of a road project that is completed  by a team which is independent from the design and construction teams. RSAs are commonly undertaken during the preliminary design, 90% design, 100% design and pre-opening project stages. An independent audit at one or more project stages improves the safety of transportation infrastructure before it is built, allowing for cost-effective improvement options.

Opus completes RSAs for a range of transportation projects, varying from small single intersections to highway corridors and transit centres. A brief list of Opus' recent RSAs include:

  • UBC Transit Centre
  • Powell Street Overpass Project
  • Roberts Bank Rail Corridor Combo Project
  • Kicking Horse Canyon Project
  • Anthony Henday Drive
  • Cycling Audit of Golden Ears Bridge
  • Tyson Road and Prest Road Roundabouts
