Water treatment for wolf creek
We provided engineering services for the construction of this 2.6 ML/d capacity treatment plant at Wolf Creek, including a bolted steel reservoir.
The project included construction of a 1.38 ML bolted steel reservoir and improvements to the existing water distribution system.
In addition to monitoring the plant's performance and reporting alarm conditions, a SCADA system also allows the District to remotely monitor the site.
UV disinfection makes a positive contribution to environmental sustainability and is expected to improve resource efficiency in a cost-effective manner and to reduce life-cycle environmental impacts by reducing chemical usage.
The plant’s processes include:
- Flocculation
- A dissolved air flotation system to remove colour and other impurities
- Primary disinfection using UV
- Secondary disinfection using sodium hypochlorite
